What is Grey Market Premium (GMP)?

GMP is the unofficial premium at which an IPO share is traded in the grey market before its official listing on NSE or BSE. If an IPO price band is ₹100 and GMP is ₹30, the expected listing price is ₹130 (+30% gain).

How to Increase IPO Allotment Chances?

  • Apply from multiple Demat accounts registered under different PAN numbers (family members).
  • Always bid at the Cut-Off Price (upper price band).
  • Avoid last-minute UPI mandate approvals — approve before 4 PM on closing day.

Mainboard vs SME IPOs — Key Differences

Mainboard IPOs require minimum ₹14,000–₹15,000 investment for 1 lot (retail). SME IPOs require minimum ₹1.0 Lakh – ₹1.4 Lakh per lot and trade in lot size batches post listing. SME IPOs offer higher returns but carry higher volatility & liquidity risk.

What happens after IPO Allotment?

Under SEBI's T+3 rule, allotment is finalized within 1 working day after IPO closing. If allotted, shares are credited to your Demat account on T+2, and trading begins on T+3 at 10:00 AM on NSE/BSE.
